Who we are

Akhirah ("we", "us", "our") is a mobile companion for Quran reading, prayer, and reflection. For anything in this policy — including data-deletion requests — contact us at ahmedbizsolutions@gmail.com.

What stays on your device

Akhirah is built to be usable privately. The following stay only on your device and are never sent to our servers, whether or not you sign in:

Your reflections, saved ayahs, and saved answers.
Your Ask conversation history.
Your recently read surahs and other local caches.

Quran text fetched from Quran.Foundation is kept in a local cache for up to seven days. Deleting the app removes this local data from your device.

Your optional account, and what syncs

You can sign in with Apple or Google (in the mobile app) to create an Akhirah account so your data follows you across devices. When you are signed in, the following is stored on our backend infrastructure (Convex):

A verified account identifier, and the email address and display name provided by your sign-in provider.
Your reduced-motion and haptics preferences, plus the goals and focus you choose during onboarding.
Your Quran bookmarks (including an optional bookmark note) and reading progress.

This data is used only to operate and sync the app for you. Reflections, saved Ask answers, Ask questions and history, and your coordinates are not part of account sync. No account data is sold, rented, or used for advertising. If you use Akhirah without signing in, none of the above is sent to us.

Sign-in is handled directly by Apple's and Google's native sign-in on your device — Akhirah never sees or stores your Apple ID or Google password. The verified identity token they issue is used to authenticate you to our backend (Convex) and is not retained by us in any long-lived server session; on-device credentials are stored in your device's secure keychain. Signing out clears them from your device.

Quran.Foundation is used only for Quran text and translations — not for sign-in. Akhirah's use of that content is governed by their own privacy policy.

Ask Akhirah

Before your first question is sent, Akhirah asks for your permission. If you agree, the text of your question — and, for context, up to 10 of your most recent messages in that conversation — is sent through our servers to OpenAI to generate an answer. This works whether or not you have an account.

Akhirah may keep a normalized copy of the question and completed answer in a temporary in-memory cache for up to 24 hours so a repeated question can reuse an answer. This cache is not tied to your account, is not written to your account database, and can disappear sooner when the server instance ends.
OpenAI states that API data is not used to train models by default.
OpenAI may retain API prompts and responses in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days, unless a shorter approved retention control applies.
Your device's IP address and technical request information are used for security and rate-limiting. They may be processed in operational logs by our hosting providers under their retention policies.
Please don't include personal information you would not want processed to answer your question.

Ask Akhirah explains and cites sources; it does not issue religious rulings, and it points questions that need a scholar toward one.

Prayer times, Qibla, and location

If you grant location permission, Akhirah uses your device's location for two things, and they work differently:

Qibla direction is calculated entirely on your device. Your location is not sent anywhere for this, and it works offline.
Prayer times are looked up from Aladhan, a third-party prayer-time service. To do this, your device sends your coordinates to Aladhan (api.aladhan.com) and receives that day's timings back. This request goes directly from your device to Aladhan — it does not pass through our servers, and we never receive or store your coordinates. We do not control Aladhan's handling or retention of that request; consult Aladhan's published terms.

Your coordinates may also be cached on your device so prayer times and Qibla still work offline. They are not part of account sync. Prayer reminders are scheduled locally by your device.

If you deny or revoke location permission, Akhirah falls back to a built-in default schedule, and no coordinates are sent anywhere.

What we do not do

We do not include advertising or third-party advertising software.
We do not include analytics, tracking, or crash-reporting SDKs.
We do not sell or rent your personal data, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
We do not build social profiles or follower graphs — Akhirah is not a social network.

Deleting your data

Delete your account, in the app: open Settings and tap Delete account. This permanently deletes your Akhirah account and everything synced to it — your profile, preferences, onboarding choices, bookmarks, and reading progress — and clears your on-device data, including reflections and Ask history. It cannot be undone.
On-device data only: you can also delete the app, or clear its data from your device settings, to remove everything stored locally.
Prefer that we do it? Email ahmedbizsolutions@gmail.com and we will delete your account data for you.

Cookies and similar technologies

The Akhirah mobile app does not use cookies. Account sign-in is only available in the mobile app (not on this website), so our website sets no sign-in cookies — it uses only what is strictly necessary to serve the site. There are no advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies, and no third-party pixels. Because we set no non-essential cookies, there is nothing here for you to consent to or opt out of.

Children

Akhirah is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will say so plainly in the app and update the date at the top of this page.
